Franchising Aids Economic Recovery, Top Business Development Advisors Say

With all the economic and market indicators showing that franchise investment is a substantial aid to economic recovery, it’s a wonder that many business owners still underestimate or discount the power of franchising.  Numbers don’t lie, and rarely is that axiom more provable in relation to economic growth than in the franchising world. We’ve asked Franchise Development Advisors, Business Development Specialists and others to add their two cents to the question – How do you believe franchising aids in economic recovery?

Franchising continues to be a source of American innovations, and right now innovations are what are needed in the U.S,” says International Franchise Solutions Operations Manager John Dunatov. “And we are participating by recognizing those that have a product to lead the U.S. in the 21st Century.”

It’s a proven fact that a franchised business stands a substantially better chance of surviving past its first five years than a non-franchised one. A given business may have an attractive set of offerings and a sound business model, but choosing not to franchise is often an isolating and self-defeating course of action. Even Presidential Candidate Governor Mitt Romney has proclaimed franchising the answer to economic recovery and job growth.

Franchise Growth Systems Franchise Development Advisor Kim Marinoff has this to say on the subject: “I honestly believe that small business is going to save this country. That’s what we were founded on, and that’s what’s going to turn the economy around. Americans are natural entrepreneurs. The fact that franchising accounts for 40% of all retail dollars spent, yet only accounts for 8% of retail space is an incredible, unmatched statistic. Though there are a few bad “franchise” eggs out there like Quiznos and Cold Stone, the majority of franchised companies succeed, and are a catalyst for the people to achieve the American Dream.”

And helping make the American Dream possible is a big part of what Franchise Growth Systems is doing. FGS represents hot franchise brands all with reasonable buy-in terms, and financial assistance for qualified candidates, training and ongoing franchisor support, so there’s no better time than the present to get on the franchising bandwagon.

Alan Bentley: “The current business climate has created what may be called an ‘Economy of Opportunity’.   There are many middle management and executive sales professionals who have been downsized or displaced who have the experience, drive and resources to become very successful Master Franchisees.   Often they just need to be informed that the opportunities exist and to be guided through the selection process to find their most rewarding career ever.”

Senior Franchise Development Advisor for FGS Greg Sweval had this to say when asked to weigh in on the subject: “The genius of franchising is that it is an elegant mechanism for self-funding growth while at the same time enlisting and fully engaging top talent.”

Indeed, in the franchising world, as a brand becomes expansive and its strength of consumer recognition grows, so do the opportunities not only for multiple income streams, but also to showcase innovative products and standardized service procedures. As well, the “top talent” will naturally gravitate to a more well-replicated, solid brand name than a more obscure one.

“What I'm seeing is that franchising's contribution to the economy isn't limited to pure economics; it's psychological as well,” says FGS’ Bill Wilson.  “Franchising offers an escape from the corporate hamster-wheel and provides a big dose of badly needed optimism to a growing group of people. It seems that a lot of successful corporate managers see business ownership as a way out from under a dark cloud. Increasing optimism is a key to an improving economy.”

And it’s that element of optimism that pervades everything FGS does. Un-stymied by the opinion of some that franchising is unnecessary, FGS and its network of empowered associates and affiliates continue to forge ahead with great plans for economic revitalization via the power of franchising, taking small businesses and readying them for big time branding and marketing success.
