It is important to be organized at the meeting and prepare your folders, proposal, etc. in advance - in an organized manner.
  4. Building Long-term Relationships. Knowing how to build lasting business relationships will be extremely valuable to you as a company owner. You can have all the know-how in the world, but if you do not foster lasting relationships, your chances of long-term success drop considerably. Studies show that only about 15% of a person’s career success is based on technical skills and know-how. The rest is how well you associate with others and communicate.
  5. Presentation/Providing Solutions. Present yourself and the company professionally and always listen attentively to your prospects needs. REMEMBER it is always best to portray yourself as a solutions provider and not merely as someone who's pitching something. The more solutions you can provide, the quicker you will make the sale. It is also critical that you portray yourself as being there for the long haul. It is all about long term relationships.
  6. Local Promotions/Press Exposure. Becoming community-involved by sponsoring high-profile events, or getting your name in the trade and business journals for a newsworthy story that attracts attention is another method by which many companies help to build their image and brand ethos in the public’s mind. Just giving back a little, with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, or Chamber of Commerce functions can help promote your brand at the same time you network in the community.
  7. Online Advertising and Marketing. One of the most effective and popular ways to get your brand and services seen by potential customers is online, or pay-per-click advertising. With more people online than ever – and most of those doing their shopping or directory searching online – it pays for virtually any business to advertise online. International Franchise Association Predicting Significant Franchise Growth in 2012

The International Franchise Association (IFA) says franchise businesses will add nearly 14,000 establishments in 2012, which is an increase of around 2% from 2011. Also by IFA estimates, direct franchise employment is slated to grow by 2.1%. Some unusual markets for pronounced franchise growth, such as San Antonio at sitting at the top of the chart, will see, or have seen, a particularly significant boost in this area.

Winmark Corporation President Steve Murphy says San Antonio “is a phenomenal market”.  A whopping nine Texas cities made the Top 25 for 2011. Other unusual cities making the Top 25 list in the economic boom department include: El Paso, Salt Lake City and Provo, UT, Huntsville, AL, Omaha, NE, and Fort Collins, CO.  It appears, perhaps that smaller, or maybe different is better for stimulating economic growth this year – and perhaps, for years to come.

Yes. But everything of value, and much that is not of value, is copied.


I welcome those who think, “Oh I see, you just count to 10 to deliver this exercise protocol…I can do this!” Perfect competitors! Fortunately, it is not obvious what it takes to build  and replicate a national and global  health and exercise franchise whose foundation is a professional  service sustained  through  long term,  satisfied clients. Fortunately, this also takes a tremendous amount of effort on the part of each SSZ team player – and we are up to the challenge!


As SSZ grows and insists on being the national/global  ‘service of choice’, copy cats won’t be -. McDonalds and Wendy's are  an example: “So I really want a McDonald’s, but I see Wendy’s…hmmm…that will do,” says those who will compromise. This is not what will happen with SSZ. The ‘easy switch’ between SSZ and ‘some other slow motion guy’ is what we guard against and optimize not to happen. This takes tremendous commitment and execution to very high standards, in all aspects of our businesses and on-going education, as well as continuous improvement and innovation. And, most of all, great people who develop as true professionals from the inside out. They walk their talk; because our clients can smell the B.S. when Instructors are not living up to the required professional standards or delivery. And, equally important, it takes growth - which is our focus.
